Heya!

I’m Arnaud, a freelancer web designer and developer based in northern France, with 15 years’ experience in web design and web development. It all began when Flash was still a big thing, but don’t worry, I’ve kept up to date since! I’m kind of a web artisan, spending time polishing the small details to make your project as perfect as I can.

I also have quite a bit of experience in education, having worked for several design and communication schools, and training centers for the past 9 years, teaching web design, front-end development, and various graphic design techniques and software.

So, whether you need a brand new website or you need help with some work for your clients, don’t hesitate to contact me!

What I do:

  • Web Design

My experience ranges from small modules that integrate well in your current website to brand new designs that respect your guidelines. I can also work with your development team, and prepare a complete UI kit or work on a design system they can integrate in your next web application.
I usually work in Figma, but I can adapt to your team’s needs.

And if you don’t have anything yet? You don’t know what you really need? Don’t worry, we can work together from scratch. You will end up with a colour palette for your brand, solid typographic choices, and a brand new site that reflects your values.

  • Development

Maybe you already have your design, or you want me to create it for you. But then, you still need to create your website. I can help you with that.

Depending on your needs, we will find the best technical solution for you. Whether it’s a custom theme for a CMS (like WordPress or Drupal), or a custom development using the latest technologies, I will provide you with code as light and optimized as possible.

Your website needs to be blazing fast while remaining accessible to everyone. I can help you respect the WCAG standards.

  • Education

I’ve been teaching various subjects, including front-end development and graphic design techniques, at ECV Lille for the past 9 years or so, and I’ve had quite a few interventions in other schools and training centers (including ISCOM, Capside and Brassart).
I’ve also worked as an educational coordinator, admissions manager and corporate relations manager at ECV Lille.

So, if your team needs to be trained to use your new website, don’t worry, they’re in safe hands.

My values.

We all have our values, right? To me, every work I do is a collaboration with people and I think it is easier to work with someone when you share their values. So here are my views on the web, that way you can decide if you wish to work with me.

  • Accessibility

Looking back at some of my older work, I’ve realized that it hasn’t always been up to par with accessibility standards. Sure, I’ve always taken it into consideration and I’ve always tried to make everything at least usable. And it has clearly never been as awful as the good old Flash times. But it wasn’t perfect.
Which is why every work I do now has to closely follow the WCAG 2 standards.

What does it mean for you? It gives you the assurance that everyone will be able to access and navigate your content with ease, whatever difficulties or disability they might encounter. Whether they're accessing your website using only a keyboard, or a screen reader, or any other assisting technology, you won’t alienate your users. It also means your website will be lightweight, to load quickly on poor connections (and that's usually great for sustainability as well).
In a word, it means your website will be better for you and for everyone else.

  • Inclusivity, openness & respect

Wouldn’t it be great if the web was a welcoming place for all? Okay, I think we can agree it hasn’t been a paradise these past few years, but I believe it’s up to us to make it so.

Having accessible content is important, but to me it’s just part of a bigger picture. It is my belief that the web should be an inclusive place, accepting anyone for whoever they are.

I do not see the web as a giant market place where every user is a potential data source. I can help you set up any marketing tool in your website but will not participate in mass data gathering. I will also refuse any political or partisan work that I feel contradicts these values.

  • Sustainability

You might not know that, but the Internet as an industry has one of the biggest carbon footprints in the world.
I will try to help you reduce your website’s own footprint as much as I can. This usually comes down to a handful of technical challenges, such as reducing media number and size, optimizing code and choosing the best hosting option. And yes, that’s why there aren’t any images on this site, but yours can have some.

Let’s talk about it and reduce your company's carbon footprint by making your website a lot lighter. What’s in it for you? You will have a faster website, your users will get to the information easily and your SEO ranking will get better. So that’s a win-win!

Let’s work together!
